Rohit Sharma created history on Wednesday as he became the third Indian batter to score the most number of centuries in List A cricket. The Hitman achieved the feat in Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy opener against Sikkim at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Sharma now boasts of 37 hundreds in List A cricket to his name, and trails Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli on the elite list.

Indians with most List A hundreds

To date, Sachin holds the record for the most List A centuries by both an international and Indian player, with 60 centuries to his name from 551 matches. Second on the list is Kohli, who has 57 centuries from 343 matches. Rohit is the third on the list now, with 37 hundreds to his name, with his 100 against Sikkim coming off 62 deliveries. This also marks Rohit’s fastest List A hundred.

Most hundreds in List A cricket

Rohit’s 105-run knock (at the time of publishing this copy) was studded with 9 fours and 8 sixes. Earlier in Mumbai’s run-chase of 237, he slammed a 28-ball half-century, maintaing a strike rate of over 170.

After finishing the year with 650 runs (just 1 runs less than Kohli’s tally), Rohit would love to make full use of his form. The Hitman will next be seen in action in international cricket in the IND vs NZ ODI series that begins on January 11. Sharma last played the VIjay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai back in the 2018 season when he turned up for a semi-final against Hyderabad.
