मोहम्मद नबी ने एशिया कप 2025 में एएफजी बनाम एसएल क्लैश के ऊपर फाइनल में 5 छह की आलोचना की, जो अफगानिस्तान के लिए सबसे तेज 50 के बराबर था।

Mohammed Nabi went on a rampage in a must-win clash for Afghanistan on Thursday. The 40-year-old hit 5 sixes in the final over of Dunith Wellalage to help the Afghans to a above par 169 in Abu Dhabi. With Afghanistan needing a win to qualify for the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4, Nabi rolled back the years to whip out a vintage display against a quality Sri Lanka outfit.

Mohammed Nabi’s six-hitting frenzy keeps Afghanistan alive

Mohammed Nabi walked into bat at No.7 and saw his side slip to 79/6 in what is a must win game for them. The 40-year-old used all his experience to turn the game on its head in a brilliant hitting display. Nabi kept scoring the odd boundary as he took the game deep. He was batting on 29 when SL captain Charith Asalanka handed Dunith Wellalage the final over.

Nabi is known his ability to hit sixes and the Afghan veteran did exactly that. Wellalage failed to find the right lengths and Nabi took the onus to deposit him into the stands. Pressure got to the left-arm spinner, who even bowled a no ball to hand the veteran another opportunity. Nabi hit 5 sixes and picked up 32 runs off the final over to help Afghanistan post 169.

Nabi finished on 60 off just 22 balls, equaling the record for the fastest half-century by an Afghan in T20Is. Azmat Omarzai had scored a 20-ball half-century against Hong Kong earlier in the tournament. Nabi’s efforts helped Afghanistan plunder 68 in the final five overs of the contest, with 49 coming off the final 2.

Fastest T20I fifties for Afghanistan (by balls faced)

  • 20 – Azmatullah Omarzai v HK, Abu Dhabi, 2025
20 – Mohammad Nabi vs SL, Abu Dhabi, 2025
    21 – Mohammad Nabi v IRE, Greater Noida, 2017
    21 – Gulbadin Naib v IND, Bengaluru, 2024

It is Nabi’s 7th T20I fifty in 138 games for Afghanistan. While he has put his side in pole position, the 40-year-old still has a job to do. His spin overs will be crucial if Afghanistan have top seal qualification for the Super 4s.
