इंग्लैंड के स्टार हैरी ब्रूक को अंतिम समय में नाम वापस लेने के कारण 2028 तक आईपीएल या नीलामी में भाग लेने की अनुमति नहीं दी जाएगी।

England cricket team star Harry Brook hasn’t registered for the upcoming IPL 2026 auction. The stellar batter made his Indian Premier League debut back in 2023 where he played 11 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Brook was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 crore in the IPL 2024 mini-auction but later pulled out just before the start of the tournament due to personal reasons. He replicated the same in IPL 2025 following which he has been barred from taking part in future auctions.

Why Harry Brook can’t take part in IPL

As per the IPL rules, any player who gets picked in the IPL auction and makes himself unavailable for the tournament before the start of the season will be banned from participating in the auction and the IPL season for a period of two years. This rule was enforced after players complained to the BCCI about players pulling out in the last minute in 2023. As a result of Brook pulling out of the IPL after being sold for Rs 6.25 crore in the mega-auction, he became the first overseas player to be banned for 2 years.

What the new IPL rule says

“Any player who registers in the auction and after getting picked, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season, will get banned from participating in the tournament and player auction for 2 seasons,” the rule states.

As a result, Brook won’t feature in IPL until 2028. He can register for the IPL 2028 mega auction. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, in his column in Mid Day, stated that a player who does not respect IPL and makes himself available for a limited time period shouldn’t be allowed to participate in the auction. Gavaskar could very well be hinting at Josh Inglis as well, as the Australian batter will be available to play just four games in IPL 2026.

There are some players who have made themselves available for a limited period. Frankly, if a player doesn’t show respect to the IPL and make himself available for the full tournament, he shouldn’t even be in the auction,” Gavaskar’s column read.
